First I found my dress and a pattern of my choosing. I opened both in Photoshop and followed the instructions on http://www.tutorialboard.net/texture-layer-modes/ to create a dress with the pattern that you see above.

  We used photoshop to make this photo by using a uncarved pumpkin onto a black back ground. Then we used the pen to draw out what we want for our Jack o' latern and then we applied different effects in the blending layer to give it a carved out look.
